The deadline for petitions is Dec. 10, and the state party said Wednesday that it expects “the vast majority, if not all” candidates to be on the Virginia ballot. That requires 5,000 signatures, with at least 200 from each congressional district. That’s half the state’s requirements for the 2012 presidential elections, when the bar proved too high for most campaigns to clear. Virginia’s primary will be held on Super Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
